Back in 1983, a handful of activists started a buying group to purchase bulk wholefoods cheaply and ethically. Over the years, Dublin Food Co-operative has grown, evolved and – in many respects – fallen prey to ‘mission creep’.
With our 30th birthday fast approaching, owner-members are grappling with a number of challenges and fundamental questions about our future.
This site returns to the values and goals with which DFC began and poses the questions ‘what should we be in 2013?’ and, just as importantly, ‘how can we get there?’
What you’ll find here is a growing number of articles from Co-op members taking up those questions. Positive contributions that are in keeping with the site’s aims and follow a few basic guidelines are welcomed.
