Welcome

Back in 1983, a handful of activists started a buying group to purchase bulk wholefoods cheaply and ethically. Over the years, Dublin Food Co-operative grew, evolved and – in many respects – fell prey to ‘mission creep’.

As its 30th birthday approached, owner-members began grappling with a number of challenges and fundamental questions about the Co-op’s future.

Two DFC signs pointing in opposite directionsOver a period of 15 months, ending in May 2013, this site returned to the values and goals with which DFC began and asked ‘what should we be in 2013?’ and, just as importantly, ‘how can we get there?’ The contributions archived here addressed these questions from a variety of angles but always in the form of constructive critique.

This ‘unofficial’ web resource was created by and for Dublin Food Co-op members. It should not be confused with dublinfood.coop, the ‘official’ site.
